Reproduction associated hormones in the blood of cycling compared to non-cycling rhinoceros

Aims:

We will measure serum hormones such as inhibin, prolactin and FSH in cycling and anestric females in order to find clues for the acyclicity seen in many captive White rhinoceros. Ultrasound performed of the ovaries will aid to understand the ovarian activity.
